Miller Street, West Melbourne

Miller Street, West Melbourne is a proposed residence on a rare inner city corner allotment. This challenging proposal integrates a heritage listed cottage at the front of the site with the proposed three storey with roof top garden dwelling along the side and rear lane interfaces.  In respect to the heritage nature of the bluestone cottage, a glass corridor with ground floor pool and associated external areas connects the newly proposed structure to the heritage element at this sensitive interface. The proposed building incorporates contemporary layouts at all levels with open planned living areas connected via a glass elevator at all floors. To respect the scale and height of the proposed building in silhouette of the cottage, a glass roof structure will provide shelter and amenity at roof top level. The use of glazing, render and stone cladding in various patterns is intended to reference the proportions and materials of the heritage cottage in a contemporary manner.
