Muldowney Street, Aberfeldie is a pair of 3 bedroom, side by side townhouse dwellings. The dwellings are contemporary in nature with sculptural walls and roof forms providing for a static façade treatment which flows around the external interfaces. Window shapes and proportions become features on the facades as they wrap around corners and integrate converging elements at focal points. Various layers of timber, render, and steel claddings, create an architectural language which promotes a sense of composition whilst maintaining continuity of visual form and scale. The proposal works with various internal heights as it steps down with the contours of the site offering for spacious open living areas and interesting variances in vertical forms and scale. As an important design consideration, the proposal mitigates its north –south axis by providing atrium style voids with a focus on filtering natural light beautifully into the south facing living zones.
