Kyrenia Court, Warrandyte

Kyrenia Court, Warrandyte is a grand scale contemporary residence within a semi-rural context on a hill side site with rolling falls. Our clients brief was to design something which was exemplary, original, with grandeur and sophistication.  The proposal sits within the hill scape with various elements that cantilever and hover above the ground plane. The façade is a series of curves with box like elements inserted, establishing various facets and orientations to the façade which follow the shape and natural contours of the site. Feature glazing, with steel and timber cladding, frame off certain volumes of the facade creating a repetitious and compositional affect.  The interiors are focused around clean contemporary lines, framing off inspiring panoramic views, and establishing different relationships between internal zones, where areas like the indoor pool integrate with the living and master bedroom zones.  Another key focus of the interior design is established in how internal zones integrate with the landscape and rural setting.  The landscape is central to the design, with a continuous play on levels and materials altering how the house and site is perceived and experienced at various points.  Kyrenia Court is a culmination of various design philosophies and their integration with the landscape achieving a successful project which belongs to this site and context, further showcasing Archiphor’s abilities to design within the contemporary space.
